В апреле 2008 года в состав вошли Garrett Berneche(гитара),Cory Manning(бас) и Freddy Clark(ударные).

Летом 2007 года они выпускают Ер "So Long the Lighthouse" и сплит с Broadway Calls. (First Buried in Pockets)

1. Hello Brett! How are you? What are you listening to right now?

-Hey Vanya, I’m doing well.  Right now I’m sitting at a coffee shop by my house and I’m listening to Tom Waits.

2. Please tell me briefly the history of your band and about present members of the band.
Tell me some words about the previous music projects that you and other members in your band had before.

-The Riot Before started sometime in late 2003 but really didn’t get going until a couple years later when I moved from Southern California to Richmond, Virginia.  It was then that the band acquired full-time members and began touring heavily.  Cory and Freddy were a part of that original group, while Jon, our current guitarist, joined a few months before Fists Buried in Pockets was recorded.  He replaced Garrett, who quit when our old van’s transmission broke on the very last night of an otherwise successful tour.  Jon and Cory used to be in a pretty good stoner rock band called Your Fellow Rebels, which I actually saw live a few times before I met those guys.  I’m not sure what Freddy’s old band was called, but I am pretty sure it was some sort of bad pop-punk.  I sang for a brief time in a band called Fly By Night, but wasn’t really involved in that band beyond my duties at the microphone.  The Riot Before is really the only band I’ve been in where I was the songwriter.

3.I think the most important question for every peoples interested in The Riot Before is when you are going to release a new record(ep,may be new album)?

I have only now begun the very long process of writing for a new record and that probably won’t be finished for another year.  We’d like to release something short like an EP or a split this year, but there probably won’t be another full-length until sometime in 2012.

4.I know all the bandmembers of the riot before are working in restaurants. Why restaurants?

We do indeed all work in restaurants.  We have never made any money in this band and when we’re home we have to work a lot to support it and ourselves.  In general, restaurant work tends to be the most flexible and allow us our jobs back after a number of weeks or months of touring.  I personally really enjoy working in restaurants and probably will continue to do so when I stop touring one of these days.

5.there have been 2 years between the last lp and "rebellion". what happened for the band in this 2 years?

We just played a whole bunch of shows.  That’s pretty much it.

6.Why did you name the album "Rebellion"?

-The title comes from a line in Dostoyevsky’s novel, The Brothers Karamazov, which when translated into English is: One can hardly live in Rebellion, and I want to live.  That line sums up how I’ve felt over the last few years.  I have found rebellion to be a valuable part of a life, but incredibly empty when pursued as a lifestyle.  Rebellion, after all, is simply disassembling something you or someone else has built.  It’s saying no.  And a life of only tearing down things and saying no is a really empty life.  The title was designed to be understood alongside the album artwork.  On the front there’s word rebellion in orange above a very cliché riot scene.  I wanted it to look really typical punk.  But then when you open the record up it reveals the entire quote and you see the aftermath of the riot, a destroyed city.  In the corner is one person kneeling down and slowly rebuilding alone.  Then when you pull out the lyrics they are on blueprints.  And that’s what this record is about.  Its focus is on the long and difficult process of deciding who you actually are after you’ve decided what you aren’t.  It’s about learning to be vulnerable and open instead of calloused and angry.

6.I know recently you had a tour of Europe. What is your most memorable?
Do you try to go out and see things when you are in different cities?

It’s impossible to pick out one particular moment in Europe as the most memorable.  I think it’s safe to say that our last trip over in November was my favorite tour we’ve ever done.  I had an incredible time.  As for sightseeing, we don’t really get a chance to do much of it.  Touring is a great way to meet wonderful people all over the world, but it’s a really bad way to see the sights.  There is such limited free time and it’s really difficult to split up or get everyone organized and to various tourist destinations.  If we have a few free hours before the show I always try to wander around a bit and see what’s in the neighborhood.  Sometimes I stumble across some really cool stuff.  One of these days I’d like to head back to the places we played and just hang out.

7.How do you determine what songs off of the newer album "rebellion" you are going to play?

We normally pick our favorite songs to play.  If someone makes a request we’ll play that, and if one particular song gets requested a lot we end up adding it to the set on a more regular basis.  That’s what happened with the song Tinitus.  We didn’t really plan on playing it much but so many people requested it that now we play it nearly every show.

8.For a lot of kids, punkrock is associated with a vegetarian lifestyle or the fight for animal rights. You often celebrate on shows that you love to eat a whole pork/pig on one day and you hates cats etc. its that a kind of provocation/game with a scene-cliche or just a way to make fun and not take everything seriously?

I think it’s both.  I mean, punk rock is supposed to be about thwarting authority and celebrating individualism and whatnot, and over the years I think we in the band have had a good time thwarting the authority of punk rock itself.  Sometimes the scene takes itself way too seriously and is disturbingly concerned with everyone acting, looking, and thinking the same.
I was a vegetarian for a time there but I eventually gave it up because I was getting really into cooking and I didn’t want to limit myself, and I began to believe that abstinence wasn’t the only way to forward animal rights.  The dire conditions found in most factory farms are the way they are because it allows the operators of that business to make the most money.  If you quit eating meat it doesn’t give those business owners any incentive to change their practices, there will always be meat eaters out there.  But if you begin purchasing meat and eggs raised ethically and environmentally, and if enough people do this, then you’ve created a financial incentive for those previous unethical farmers to change their practices.  Right now there are dairies in America switching to organic because those farmers can actually make more money by doing so.  This change is happening (slowly and on a small scale, but it’s there) because consumers chose to spend extra money on organic milk.  I doubt these changes would have occurred if those same consumers started drinking soy.  When I’m not on tour I do my best to purchase local and ethically raised meat.  I’m lucky in that there are a whole host of farms around Richmond that have incredibly high standards.
As for cats, they’re fine and all but not so great that I want my house to smell like their shit all the time.  Which pretty much every house with cats smells like.  Cat shit.

9.What is a song you never get sick of hearing?why?

My Favorite Chords by The Weakerthans.  I think it is one of the best songs ever written.  I love how it manages to be incredibly intelligent without being pretentious.  It’s so simple and sympathetic and human that it resonates with me in a very deep way every single time I hear it.  Each line is deceptively dense too.  I mean, you could write a book, literally an entire book, based solely on the line “it’s such an enormous thing, to walk, to listen.”  Musically it builds when it needs to build but is secure enough that it allows itself to be simple.  Just when the same three chords could possibly get a little tiresome it changes just enough to keep it interesting but not too much as to overcomplicate anything.

10.What do you usually try and do when you have a couple of days off back home?

First and foremost I try to get as many shifts working as I possibly can.  Next, I spend pretty much the rest of my free time cooking food and then reading about cooking food.  Yesterday I cooked for like 8 hours.  I loved it.

11.What is something you have always wanted to do but have not done yet?

Learn to speak Spanish.  I desperately need to do this.

12.Do you like reading printed fanzines?

I don’t think any of us read fanzines actually.  I’ll thumb through an issue of Razorcake or AMP, especially if my friend’s bands are featured, but generally I get enough punk rock in my diet that I don’t read about it.  If I’m reading it’s normally novels or cookbooks.

13.Could you also tell me of your local scene in Richmond and recommend me some new/young local bands?

The scene in Richmond is strange.  It’s almost too full of good bands and most of those bands break up after like 5 shows, so it’s really hard to keep track of what’s happening, especially since I’m out of town pretty much half of the year.  Most of the bands I know about are bands we play with on tour.  For example, if you haven’t listened to Red City Radio, you should.  Same with The Great Explainer.  There’s a cool band called Sundials from Richmond.  Also the Catalyst is great and they tour Europe at least once a year.  Oh, and we played with a band called Flechette that was really good.

14.Which punk releases in 2010 did you like best?

I really liked records by The Flatliners and The Menzingers.

15.What are your plans for the 2011?

Tour and write.  Eat and drink.

16.Do you know anything about Russian music scene (maybe some bands).?Do you want to visit our country?

I honestly don’t know a thing about the Russian music scene.  I have heard playing shows there is incredible.  We’d love to tour Russia and hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to one of these days.

17.What would you like to wish to russian punks?

I guess just thanks for listening!  It’s incredible to me that we have fans anywhere let alone Russia!  So thank you!

"The whole process of putting out our first LP has been such a long time coming and we appreciate everyone’s patience so far. The past year and a half of our lives have been focused around this record and with that came a lot of situations that we never thought we’d find ourselves in. It’s some shit that we’ll tell our grandkids about. Anyway - what’s important is that the recording process for our first full length record is finished. Walter Schreifels produced it and Will Yip engineered it at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA. SideOneDummy is putting it out. We couldn’t be more excited about that combination. Everyone involved is on the exact same page as us and that’s what we have been working so hard towards since we started even thinking about making this record. We are happy to get things moving on such a positive note and with such an amazing group of people. Keep your ears to the ground for more information and thanks to everyone for everything.

Respectfully,

Ned, Ben, Jamie, and Shane"

1. Hello Jamie! How are you? What are you doing? What are you listening to right now?

Hey how's it going? I'm doing good thanks. I'm hanging out on a train on the way to Florida, to go see some of my family for the holidays. I've been really into the new Hostage Calm, United Youth, and Tigers Jaw records. 6's and 9's by Mock Orange, and Jawbreaker are always good jams too.

2. I think the most important question for every kid interested in Title Fight is when you are going to release a new record? Have you already began working on it? Any information :)

We are recording the record now near Philadelphia, and it'll probably come out in the Spring of 2011. Our friend Will Yip is recording it. The record's going to be our first full length, but we're not sure how many songs are going on it, the name of it, or details like that.

3. Do you have plans to hit Europe in summer 2011?

We're trying to go back when the new record is out, and that'll probably be around the Spring or Summer. It'll be cool getting some more falafel, and seeing friends again. Daylight might be going in March also so check them out if you can.

4. Back in 2003, what were your thoughts about making this band and writing songs? Did you expect anything special or it was just about having fun with friends?

We started in 6th grade, and we just wanted to make a band, and play shows. I didn't know what to expect. I just knew it'd be fun to start a band with them.

5. Is there an interesting/cool/funny story behind the name 'Title Fight'?

The name Title Fight either came from the arcade game, or a card with a boxer on it. Honesty I'm not sure. Ned came up with it a long time ago, and he probably has a different answer than mine.

I remember just being like "ya Ned that sounds cool", but I didn't really dig it as much as I liked my idea at the time. Thinking about it now though, my idea was awful, and Title Fight definitely is better than what I thought was a good idea.

6. Who makes cover arts for Title Fight records and t-shirt designs? Are there any tee designs that you like the most? Why?

John Garrett Slaby made the cover art for The Last Thing You Forget. He's a friend of ours, and an artist from Philadelphia. I think he's making the artwork for the full length as well.

My favorite T-Shirt designs that we have are the newest ones. We're all into camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. So we've made a bunch of shirts lately dealing with places we like hiking, and hanging out in, in Pennsylvania.

A lot of the older ones are weird, and funny to look at because I don't know how we thought some of the shirts we made were good ideas. I like those ones for different reasons I guess.

7. Guys from TF play in several bands like Disengaged, Stick Together, Bad Seed (RIP), do you personally like those bands? Would you like to make/join a band someday? Or you prefer acoustic one-man projects?

All of those bands are good. Stick Together is awesome.

I form bands with those dudes all the time. Everyone seems to make random side projects. Some friends and I made some songs in this band called Malice a bit ago, and that came out alright.

I think acoustic shows are awkward, but they're still cool to do. I like playing in bands more.

8. What is your favorite tour story?

I'm not sure what my favorite tour story is. We were pulled over by the police for something my friend did at a Subway, so we convinced the cop we were a Christian band, and that they'd got the wrong van. Eventually they realized we weren't telling the truth, and put my friend in handcuffs, and we were band from a random Subway in, I think New Mexico.

9. What band(s) did you like to tour with the most?

I've liked all the tours I've been a part of. We did a tour with Mother of Mercy, and Foundation a while back that was awesome. It was the first full U.S. tour that we did, and Sound & Fury was great that year. We went to Japan with H2O a little bit ago that was sick. Those dudes were really cool people to hang with, and seeing friends from across the world was cool too.

10. Are there any shows that you will remember for a very long time? Why?

We've played a lot of shows that I'm going to remember. Our first show was in 2003 with Blacklisted, Frostbite, and a few other bands at Cafe Metro. Ned and Ben's dad dropped us off at the show since we couldn't drive yet, and about four of my friends showed up since with their parents since they thought the area wasn't good for kids that age. The show wasn't crazy or anything but, it was awesome though because it was the first one. We played a show there a bit ago right before the venue closed down, and that was great.

11. Do you have any hobbies except music and writing cool lyrics? Like drawing or photography? Maybe science addiction?

I like playing baseball. When it's warm out all of the kids from the area play baseball together, and then hang out after at Angelo's when it's to dark to see the ball anymore. The swimming holes in the mountains where I live are gnarly too. I also like skateboarding, chess (I'm not that good), hiking, and am getting into rock climbing.

12. Name please your top 5 bands (and their records if you want) and top 5 movies.

Jawbreaker, Tigers Jaw, The Progress, Braid, and American Football.

Shawshank Redemption, The Ocean's Trilogy, Indiana Jones (not so much the newest one), The Sandlot, and Star Wars. It takes a lot to make me dislike a movie though.

13. As long as you are connected with the hardcore scene what do you think about it? I mean, maybe there are some things that you dislike about it or love the most. How have you become involved in hardcore/punk?

I like the scene. There's a big family vibe in the community. I've made a lot of friends through doing this. There's obviously random kids that are into it for the wrong reasons, but most of those kids eventually bail out of the scene.

14. If you had a chance and opportunity to choose, what movie/cartoon/comics/tv show character would you be?

This is a tough question to answer. Han Solo seemed to have a bunch of cool adventures, and got with a princess. So I'm going to say him, but it's tough to think of one character to be and stick with it.

15. Do you know anything about Russian or Ukrainian bands?

I don't know much about bands from Russia, or Ukraine. I'd like to know more about them though. What are some bands to check out?

16. Tell us please about Wilkes-Barre local scene, seems like is is pretty big and it develops really hard. What WB bands do you like? What scene in the US is your favorite and why?

Wilkes-Barre's got a great scene goin right now. Cold World, Dead End Path, War Hungry, United Youth, Stick Together, and a bunch of other bands we all hang with. Plus bands like Frostbite before. It's a small city, but a great group of bands, and a good sense of community. I'm glad our band, and I am a part of it. We all hang out, go to shows, play baseball, and chill at Angelo's. So it's my favorite scene going on right now.

17. How is it going with your songwriting? I mean not for TF but for single project. I think everybody listed to your split with Brandon Setta (his songs are really wonderful). Do you have any plans to record more acoustic songs?

Thanks for listening to them. I like making acoustic songs, and might make more soon, but it's more of a thing I do when I'm just sitting in my basement. I normally just make them when friends ask to do a split, or a song for a compilation. When those acoustic jams came out a long time ago, I never released them. Some how people got the songs, but that's cool.

18. Is there anything you would like to add or maybe ask?

Ya, would you give me a few good bands from your area to check out, and what's Ukraine like?

Thanks for the interview, check out Hostage Calm.

Happy Birthday Katie and Allison!!
Birmingham,TN.
P.S.Eliot!

Waxahatchee.

(bad banana- http://www.mediafire.com/?6adywmdy3r038ua)

New Brunswick, NJ.

Liz Prince's comic zines (lizprincepower.com).

Ещё я так же веду блог (libranhusband.blogspot.com).

Happy Birthday Again!!

1. Please tell me briefly the history of your band and about present
members of the band.(p.s.eliot)
Is there an interesting/cool/funny story behind the name 'P.s.eliot'?

P.S. Eliot started in the winter of 2007/2008 originally with me, my
sister Allison and our friend Katie. Katie left the band shortly
thereafter and our friend Reena joined on bass. We did our first demo
and couple of tours and local shows with that lineup. Will joined on
second guitar and we recorded our first LP in the fall of 2008. Reena
left, Katherine joined and that's been the lineup ever since. We've
done a few tours and another 7 inch since then. We just recorded a new
LP that should be coming out on Salinas Records in February.

The name P.S. Eliot is (duh) a play on the writer's (T.S.)name. It was
literally just a band name on a list that we decided to go with
because we couldn't think of anything better.

2.Tell me some words about the previous music projects that you and
other members in your band had before.

Well before P.S. Eliot, Allison and I were in a band together all
through highschool called the Ackleys. Katherine was in a mosh band
called Jawz. Will was in a folk punk band called the Judy Garland
Death Squad.

3.Do you have more projects than p.s.eliot.Could you tell more details about it?

Allison and I are in a new band called Bad Banana. I also have a solo
project called Waxahatchee.

4.Which of your shows was the most memorable for you? Which was the coolest one?

Both times we've played the Fest in Gainesville it's been really
great. Any time we've played in New Brunswick, NJ its been really
good. We played once in Chico, CA and the show wasn't so much
memorable but the experience as a whole was. We went swimming in this
big public swimming hole in a park and stayed in tents on a farming
co-op. The next morning we were all eating cherry tomatoes off the
vine and we jumped on a trampoline and there were sheep and tons of
cats, it was like a dream world.

5.Could you also tell me of your local scene in Birmingham and
recommend me some new local bands?

You know, I've always felt like P.S. Eliot was slightly disconnected
from the local scene in Birmingham. We rarely play local shows and
I've always felt like we get more support elsewhere. There are a few
cool venues in Birmingham, namely Bottletree. Bands to check out here
would be Dolarhyde, Eat My Shorts and Banditos. Dan Sartain is from
here as well and he's rad.

6.Do you like reading printed fanzines? Are there any favorite you
could recommend to our readers?

I do like reading printed fanzines when I come across them, but I
haven't really seen any good ones that the rest of the world probably
doesn't already know about (MRR, Give Me Back, etc.) My friend Ramsey
makes a cool comic zine (http://everydaypants.com/artwork/zines/) and
I also really like Liz Prince's comic zines (lizprincepower.com)

7.Do you have any hobbies except music?

I like riding bikes and knitting and my sister and I are really into
astrology. I've also become a bit of an herbal tea enthusiast
recently. I have a blog too (libranhusband.blogspot.com) but most of
what i post is music-related.

8.Which this year's latest punk releases did you like best?

I loved the new Sourpatch 7 inch "Mira Mija" as well as the Weed
Hounds 7 inch "Beach Bummed". The new Screaming Females LP "Castle
Talk" and the Measure (SA)'s "Notes" are sick too. Shellshag's "Rumors
In Disguise" is probably my favorite record of the year.

9.Do you know anything about Russian music scene (maybe some bands).

I know very little about the punk scene in Russia, actually. I know
that it's cold there and I have had friends tour there and speak very
highly. I would love to visit on a musical quest or otherwise.
Someday, hopefully.

10.What would you like to wish to Russian punks?and in general to all
fans p.s.eliot.

I would like to say to russian punks that i think its amazing that you
even know my band exists and thanks so much and please take all our
music for free online and give it to all your friends. same goes to
any fans of p.s. eliot. we love you.

thanks so much Vanya!
